Need to get your new blades mounted? Simply take your boots and blades to Cambridge Ice Arena and drop them for mounting. Mounting will take place after payment is made online.


Currently this service is for Figure Skates only.

The Process

Bring the boots, blades and screws provided by the manufacturer to Cambridge Ice Arena. If you do not have the original screws from the manufacturer we may be able to provide some at additional cost


  • Ask any member of staff about leaving your skates for Rich@TheRink
  • Fill out the form with your details, indicating blade mounting
  • Leave the form and parts with staff, taking the receipt portion
  • Make payment for the service


Blades are positioned for the individual, and therefore at this point we will fit the blade with temporary, adjustment screws. It will be necessary to try the skates to ensure that the blade is in the correct position. This can happen in one of two ways:


  1. You may collect the skates and try them at your own convenience, letting us know if any adjustment is required. Leave the skates again for adjustment or final screw fitting.
  2. We can set up an appointment to test and adjust the blades, and fit the final screws all in one sitting.


Either option can be chosen, but for speed of service we recommend the second of these.


Once the blade is in the correct position, the final screws will be fitted to the skates.

Transferring old blades to new boots

Please contact us if the new boots are a different size to your old boots.

Old blades to new boots does not require any additional work - the price will be £15.

Putting new blades on old boots (or new boots with existing blade)

Please contact us if the new blades are a different size to your old blades.

There is a high chance that we will need to repair the screw holes in the boots before fitting the new blades. We charge £2 per hole that needs to be filled, but we will only do the absolute necessary work. Hole filling is performed with specialist glues and graphite fillers for maximum boot stability.


New blades usually also require sharpening. Our normal charge for this is £12.00, unless you bought the blades from us.

Putting new blades on new (bladeless) boots

If boots and blades are purchased from us we will do all of the work for free, as part of the sale of the boots/blades.

Can I fit blades myself?

While possible, we do not recommend this - it's possible to damage the sole/foot bed of the boot, and alignment of the blade is key for skating.
